Proof Positive Papers is a small business providing premium proofreading services to textbook publishers and other businesses. Based in Blacksburg, VA, the owner has served US and international clients since 2006. She reached out to Framework Creative about a website and logo redesign.
Her former website was outdated and contained many different pages and dropdown menu items. Additionally, it was not mobile friendly. The logo had outdated typography with an icon that was not a good representation of her services and business name.
She wanted a design that was clean but also warm and friendly, to emphasize the personal experience she gives to each of her clients. This experience is what sets her apart from bigger companies that offer similar services. She wanted to simplify the content on her website and really hone in on making it speak to her target clients.
I set to work designing the primary and alternate logos. For the brand color palette, I wanted to incorporate blues to convey professionalism, but I knew I also wanted to use red and some lighter shades of it, for its warmth and the relevance to the industry. The red lines in the logo are reminiscent of the marks of an editor’s red pen. The emblem can be interpreted as a physical stack of papers, or a digital one, with the folded page on top being reminiscent of a digital document icon. This is fitting since most editing now occurs digitally.
In addition to the logos, I designed a simple, two-sided business card, as well as a social media image set.
Next, I worked with the owner to simplify the structure of the website, paring down nearly 20 pages to just five main ones. We worked together to edit content from the original site for these main pages, rewriting some sections as necessary and incorporating relevant SEO keywords throughout.
After the content was set, I got to work on the design of this mobile responsive, WordPress website. The new site features plenty of white space, glowing client testimonials, relevant stock photos and headshots of the owner, the call to action to request a quote, and of course, the new color palette and logo elements. With Stripe payment integrations, it also allows Proof Positive customers to easily make deposit and final payments directly on the website via credit card. The end result is a simple and professional website and logo that conveys the owner’s emphasis on a warm and friendly customer experience.
