Liberty Reclaimed Furniture is a small, family-owned business providing quality pre-owned solid wood furniture to the New River Valley and beyond. The owners began the business in 2017 and were looking for a logo and website to take their business to the next level.
I met with the owners to discuss their brand as well as their needs and desires for the website and logo design. They had chosen the name “Liberty” for several reasons that they wanted the logo to convey. One of the owners was initially from Philadelphia and a former member of the military. So they wanted red, white, and blue in their brand colors and the Liberty Bell as their emblem. They also wanted a simple website to which they could easily update their furniture listings—adding new pieces and removing sold pieces.
I set to work designing the primary and alternate logos with their target customers in mind. I wanted to create a simple Liberty Bell emblem that would look good in digital platforms such as the website, as well as physical ones such as hats, t-shirts, etc. The frame around the primary logo adds a bit of a vintage look, which reflects the character of much of the furniture that the business sells. I chose a bold serif font for the word “liberty” but balanced it out with a more casual brush script font to once again add a vintage feel. In addition to red and blue, the brand color palette features a couple different tones of brown to play off the wood tones of the furniture. In addition to the logos, I designed a two-sided business card.
For the website, I wrote the content for each main page. I visited their furniture warehouse to take photos for each of the main banner images on the site. I then got to work on the design of this mobile responsive, WordPress website. With a primary focus on the furniture listings, I also wanted to emphasize their brand values, including a customer-focused experience. The About page features their mission, values, FAQs, and bios about the business and the owners.
The furniture listings page can be easily sorted by type of furniture that the site visitor is looking for. The individual furniture listing pages contain a gallery area for images, price, a description and dimensions of the piece, and a call-to-action to get in touch to see or purchase the piece. I set up eight of these furniture listings in the initial site build, then taught the owners how to easily add future listings and remove sold pieces.
